Need ideas for a children's short story?

Question

I need a theme (to use in my epiphany). Something original preferably. Incase you are wondering my story needs to be a maximum of 1200 words for this Grade 12 writing assignment. If you have any ideas please feel free to post. Thanks

Hi, and I have a true life experience, My Pet Bantam Hen, Henny Penny helped me nurse a young Male Crow(Edgar Allen Crow) back to life, he would not eat for me. Henny stole so much of his food out of my hand while I tried to feed Edgar that he finally got the Idea. Then He fell in love, He constantly broke down my tropical plants and tried with all his mite and shiny toys to coax Henny Penny into his crudely made love nest! But to no avail!
Then in desparation, he taught him self to cluck and squak like a chicken! NOPE, no interest So he started on me, first he learned to laugh like a human, and really earily Ahaahaahooo in CROW! Then one day I walked in to feed then and he gathered up his neck and beak and said,"CROW...LOVE YOU!". I ran a green house range at a puplic health Hospital for years and that is how I had the safe space for these very real
animals along with RHEA .the Cat Queen of the world and Georgie Ball Python Climbing Snake Also Jonah the rat, saved from the mouth of the Leviathin, (Boa Constrictor) and lived with us until he died at 6yrs old! Together we made the elderly and termanly ill warm, happy, and in touch with living warm(well most of them were warm) creatures. In a 10 thousand foot greenhouse range,with flowers blooming and a koi pond, and a lot of love! Rhea was an Abisinian, Hennie penny was an all white bantem hen, Edgar..well..he's a crow, Jonah was a hooded rat, Charcoal grey head Bright Black eyes and white body. Georgie Ball Python is still with me and is Brown,Chestnut brown and Black in the most beautiful patterns.
I hope I have helped,and I would love to see little ones(I have grand kids) enjoy my friends as every one at the Hospital did,

Here goes: A Child has to fly each summer back and forth from one parent to another who are divorced. One lives on the west coast, the other on the east. The child first flies when it is six. The fear of flying, the excitement of flying, and having to say goodbye but getting to see the other parent can all be woven together.
