I am an agnostic atheist (secular humanist, to be more specific), and I am of the opinion that playing the atheist card is sudden death for a politician. Gay people can not practice homosexuality and be okay in the christ-stain's book, but atheists are clearly blinded by satan and cannot be trusted.
Morons.

Definitly Athiest. Especially in america.A person with no real belief system is seen by many to lack integrity and may appear to have no clear moral values. i think people would rather know that someone is dedicated to a cause or belief, and that they follow rules which they believe will help enrich their life.
personally i don't give a crap about either, it comes down to the manifesto and whether or not i believe the candidate has what it takes to do what they say they will. but some people care about the details of how a politician lives their life.

I'm still not understanding why it makes a difference of who someone prefers to have sex with, or whether or not they believe in a diety (or WHICH one) when people are supposed to be voting on the ability to lead a nation. So far I haven't heard of a politician trying to have sex with oher world leaders, they are usually content to just screw their own people. Also, they don't seem to practice any of the rosy goodness they preach from their religions, so again, whats the point?

I think there have been more politicians who are open atheists rather than those who are openly gay.
More often than not politicians are "outed" by the media instead of voluntarialy coming out.

Most homosexuals are also atheists. The two go hand in hand because the bible rejects homosexuality. Period. 10 years ago it would have been worse to announce your a homo, but not nowadays, unless ur republican (or the daughter of a prominent republican).

Interesting question.........
I think it's worse to announce you are homosexual.
When you do that your career is often shot especially with the administration that is in office at this moment (or even in the future!).
