they are taking away parental rights from the father at the end of the month. My nephew is living with his grandmother who is well into her late 50's with his 5 year old brother (he is only 2) The mother refuses to cooperate with children services and they will be taking away her rights as well pretty soon. Like i said the grandmother lives alone with the two babies and works alot as well. I live in another state and cant stand the thought of my baby nephew getting lost in the system, I want to raise him as my own along with my two children. I am not blood related to his brother however so i cant get him this i have been told. What do i do?

ROCK ON !! that is the most awsome thing I have heard in a long time.. You should get a cutody lawyer and go after the kid do everything you can, might take alot of $$$ but children are worth more than money as i can tell you know..
You might be able to get his brother even though your not related but your nephew is..
I started trying to get custody of my sons bro from another chick but it was too late, the foster mom filed for adoption and alredy had him for years.. work fast cause the grandma might be trying too.

You do have standing, to request custody. You need to speak to an attorney familiar with family law. They should be able to find an attorney in the state where your nephew is located. If his father is related to you, there will be questions the court will want to ask you. You will probably have to prove that your family situation is better than the Grandmother's home. Be aware that late '50's is not old. Good luck.

Go to your local Child Protective Services and tell them your situation and what you will have to do is go through a process of becoming a foster home for children. You can get his brother, if children are related they try and keep them together. If you are willing and able to take both they will help you with that.

You would be the best thing that could happen to these kids. Talk to the grandmother and see if she will agree to turn custody over to you. Can you talk to the mother? If it comes before a court, make sure you are there to step in.You may need a lawyer.
