I think it helps a lot to be positive, although it's really hard to do. If you're positive, you will look for positive things in life, and if you're negative, you will pick out all the horrid things in your life.

Positive comes from positive because the Law of Attraction is universal in the physical and metaphysical realms. You don't have a choice about whether it is true or not, because it is. You do have a choice of whether to believe it or not, though. Also, disappointment is not real. It's a judgement, not a real thing. Certainly we feel "let down", but that's because we have judged it to be unfavorable.
Being positive is more than thinking positive, and it takes being positive to manifest positive results. Your actions and your results cocme out of your being.
What usually happens is that we have a very specific image of the outcome in mind, and when if it doesn't happen that way, then we call that disappointment. (That is not being positive.) You're dissapointed because you are attached to a specific outcome. Often times, the outcome is still developing, and a little farther along, we can have a favorable outcome, but maybe different than we first imagined. That's what the "blessing in disguise" is, right? Or we might have a favorable outcome, but because we are waiting for it to look a certain way and arrive at a certain time, we don't even see it. The universe operates on it's own schedule.
When you can become detached from the outcome, and still hold the picture of it in your mind, with a knowing that it will work out, then you can avoid the disappointment feeling. That's what faith is, and faith is a tool for using the Law of Attraction effectively. Detachment means that if it doesn't work out the way you wanted, you're not affected, because you are focused on what you want, not on the fact that it didn't work out this time.
Focus on the process, and the results will take care of themselves. That's positive thinking.

Yes, I think if you think positive, positive things will deffintely happen! As you see in you question you are pleasantly surprized when you think negatively and something positive happens, so I think when you try to think positive, you still have that negativity. I hope you have a wonderful day. I really do. Oh, regarding setting yourself up for failure. Failure is just one more lesson or experience. To some, there were and are a lot of failures that lead to big successes because of the lessons learned. I think I will shut up now.

Read "The Magic of Thinking Big"... I have, and that book says that you must not only think positive things, but set BIG goals for yourself-- what you want to do, what you want to be, etc. and then not just think positively about that goal, but actually believe that it will happen, that you deserve this big thing.
My question to you is- How long did you try this thinking positive thing? Was it just a couple weeks or was it a full, permanent attitude change? (I'm guessing it was more along the lines of a temorary thing.) Did you set a BIG goal? Do you sincerely believe that you deserved this big thing?

Just thinking positive is not enough. You must live it. If you think positive and treat everyone around you negatively, the positive thinking is dulled by your surroundings. Be positive with everything you do. Have you ever been in a crowd at a party or at school where everyone is interacting really great and a negative person walks in and just ruins it all? That person may have been thinking very positive about themselves, but negative with everyone else. You don't want to be around that person and you absolutely do not want to be that person. Try it out. I hope this advise helps you out.

Definitely.
I have - or trying to have which is not that easy some days - to keep a positive attitude. I am always hit by coincidences...the day I posted "I wished Time magazine" would contact me again and give me 70% because I declined about 5 times. Two days after, I got another invitation and I took it up.
So many times I have fantasized about something which came true sooner or later.
Some people believe that our thoughts are sent into the cosmos or wherever and become magnets.
That said.........I have wished on the lottery too many times........and zero point for me : ( !

It is good to remain positive, but it needs a bit more work than sitting around and thinking happy thoughts. Think positive set a goal and get to work. Don't give up. Keep the positive ideas flowing and try again. Maybe a different route to the same goal. If you enjoy what you're doing you're more likely to succeed.

ahh, youre cute. But yes, youre right. I like the old saying. "hope for the best but expect the worst", that way you are hoping for good (optimistic), but youre prepared for the bad (realistic or pessimistic), and youre not let down. From personal experience i dont think its good to expect too much from any situation, job, love, family, anything, cause when youre let down it hurts. But I am also optimistic and never give up because I know something good will come eventually. But yea I believe thinking positive gives you confidence and in certain situations that can help bring about the results you want. Thinking negatively usually will bring about bad results.

I think that if you think positive that positive things will happen most of the time. Even if nothing good happens dont get down, just be thankful that nothing bad happend. And if something bad does happen then you just have to make the best of it and move on.

I think that we should try to think of positive things as much as possible. It doesn't necessarily have to be 'hoping for positive things to happen in the future,' but also making the best out of not-the-best situations, and making the best out of your past and working for the future.
I do not believe that if you think positive things, positive things will come to you. However, i do believe that if we think positive things, life will become easier. Negativeness (is that a word???) can be sad, mad, angry, disappointing... etc. But postiveness (?) is happy. cheerful. pleasant. A happier life is better than a a sad one!

No, I don't believe that positive thinking can influence outcomes. But I don't know if being so pessimistic would be for everyone. I try to be realistic, assign a probability to events, and try to not be too surprised whatever happens.
