I am not talking about boyfriend /girlfriend stuff, or even personal stuff for that matter. Not that those things aren't significant, but outside yourself; what moves you with compassion? When do you say "I have got to do something about that, I have to help, I have to make a difference."

I...don't know. Normally, I look at the world going to hell - it's starving children and emo-kids, drug addicts and terrorists, all of them crying out for help, confused and alone in a world that doesn't care - I look at all this with a feeling of expectation, like it's supposed to happen this way, if only to lead to something else. I have the feeling that eventually people will get sick of allowing themselves to be downtrodden and finally really do something about it, something worldwide, something that ends one era and begins a new one. I expect our version of a world to end, and sooner rather than later at this rate, but a "new" world will rise from the ashes of the old. So, in a way, my heart isn't really broken, but oh it aches, and especially for those who suffer from no fault of their own, especially violently. Right now I have the image of a mother holding her dead, bloody, dust-covered baby in her arms. No single person can make a difference, though; any comfort I offer will just be helping the current situation seem not so bad, thereby prolonging everyone's suffering until the fundamental situation changes. The solution has to be worldwide and by definition a social thing, not individual, and all I can do is position myself to help it along most when it starts to happen.

Poverty that's been passed on generation to generation. It tears me up. I'm not wealthy, but I see people who've never learned how to manage money because they were never taught. To see people work hard and then go to RENT TO OWN because that's where their momma shopped just kills me. Wait a few months and pay 1/3 the price somewhere else for goodness sakes! You probably think I'm joking, but I'm dead serious. In my area I see people everywhere who make a decent living but are dirt poor because they just have never learned how to be master of their money.

When I see dead children and people on TV News. When I see crying babies and children from fear or hunger. When I see hatred crimes based on racism (for skin color or religion or..or..) it breaks my heart deeply. And I say: "I'll try to do something".

when I see a homeless animal, or a starving one, or one at somebody's house, not being cared for. It just kills me to see that, especially dogs.
