when it says the guy put his head in thecauldron of soup;;;;;then it said it was an explotion was he shot or did he like get yelled at or what ever?

I read it just recently. He was shot for trying to get the soup.

Haven't read that book for a long time but I still rememeber. He was hungry so he tried to run out and get some more food from the cauldron but the guards shot him for doing that. Sad.

I read it a while ago in 8th grade. When they talk about the explosion, i believe you are right in saying that he gets yelled at for taking too much soup from the cauldron because he was hungry.
