I am a junior in HS. I always get B+ on my persuasive essays. Should I go to a tutor to improve my skills or should I refer some books on essay writing? Can anybody suggest what books to use to improve my essay writing skills? Does anybody know English tutors in 94903 area code in CA?

make sure your information is full of details and supporting evidence, but make it compressed and succinct- don't ramble on. also make sure your sentences are made up of a variety of different words, try not to repeat any too much. make sure to get your point across as well, and make it clearly stated and restated throughout the essay.

I would say ask your teacher what differentiates your B+ from an A. Generally teachers also write comments on your papers these are very good tips for next time. If you feel that the teacher hasn't helped you enough go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find an essay writing skills book and go from there good luck

Try talking to your teacher, ask her/him what is wrong with it.
If it's a persuasive essay, make sure it has a lot of evidence, if i was being persuaded i would want to know "why should I"
It also depends on what your problem is, if it's grammer than read a grammer book, or possibly hire a tutor it money's no trouble.

I think the best thing you could do is to go in after school and sit down with your English teacher, ask him what you could do to improve your essays. I mean, he is the one grading your essays after all. The teacher will have read your essays, so they can tell you what you are doing wrong, and then give you tips on how to make it better.
