Lets say I cancel my DSL service but I still have the modem I bought from the company. An now I'm about to get DSL service with another company. Can I use the modem I already have instead of buying another one from the new company I plan to get service from.
Bascailly can I use A DSL Modem with any DSL service or do I have to buy one from that company.

I think you probably can, especially if it is not hardware made specifically for that company (most hardware like that is not specific to an ISP). You could say to the new company what equipment you do have (make, model) and ask if it is compatible with their DSL. You may even be able to check on their web site under technical support.

As long as the service is compatible with your modem.

In most cases the new provider will give you a modem.....but you should be able to use the one you have if you want.

you'd have to find that out from the company you are requesting service from..... most companies prefer to use thier own stuff... labor and warranty issues..... but it never hurts to call and ask! :)

You probably can, and it will save you the cost of a modem.
Just ask your new company.
