Pure acetone works best. Fingernail polish remover with acetone will work as well, but it takes a lot longer to soak off that way. Pure acetone is available at most large chain stores that sell cosmetics.
Acetone dissolves plastics, so don't put it in a plastic bowl. Put it in a ceramic or glass bowl, and let your fingertips soak. As they soak, you will notice that the acrylic starts to get puffy and blow up in layers. Simply take an orange stick and scrape that puffy stuff away. Keep soaking until as much of the acrylic as possible is gone. There may be some remnants of acrylic still on your nails after you soak off, and you can lightly buff most of that away with a buffer or extra-fine grit file. The main thing is to avoid harming the fingernail underneath. After soaking off, wash your hands really well with soap and water, and moisturize.
Acetone is hard on your skin and nails, and your hands will need extra care for a while after you have removed your acrylics. The nails will generally be weak until everything that had acrylic on it has grown out, which can take six months or longer, depending on how fast your fingernails grow. Take good care of your hands during that time, and your nails should eventually return to the same condition they were in before you had acrylics put on in the first place. Good luck!

Pure Acetone. It's at the beauty supply store and most Walmarts. Make sure it's ACETONE only. It will melt the glue and acrylic away. Fill a bowl with it and sit your hands in it.

I've bitten them off, cut them off, and had them removed at the salon.
I HIGHLY recommend going to the salon and paying the money to have it done.
It's not going to feel good any which way you do it, but it hurts less and your nails are left in a little better shape if you do it at the salon!

They also have things you can by at cosmetic stores made specifically to take off fake nails. They're in little tubs, and they have strong polish remover type stuff and scrubby things.

It's always best to go to a nail salon and have them remove them there. You can damage your nails if you try to do it yourself.
