1-Mrs. Bumble may have thought she knew the lady in the locket (dont forget it was a well established family) she may have been hoping for a reward.
2- less chance of Fagin getting caught and more hands meant more takings.
3-Nancy may have a poor background but it doesn't mean she had no morals. She wanted something good to happen for someone and she saw Oliver just didnt fit in her world.
4-Fagin was hoping to score big it was like a just in case box so if he had to leave quickly he had assets to liquidate.
5-Shows Oliver had Gumption- he could have backed down even though he picked the short stick but he still went forward. Just as he kept trying throughout the whole story to succeed.

Fagin was based on true story of Ikey Solem - a Jew associated with using kids to fence stolen items.

Nancy was showing her true nature, a redeeming quality that got her killed

Fagin keep the box of treasures as a retirement fund because he felt the best belonged to him.

It started the real story. The kids drew straws on who would ask that fateful question to get more food. He got sold to the undertaken & ran away to meet Fagin, all because of this question.
