most of the time i am content being alone, but i need to know that there is someone special even though i might not need them to be with me constantly

Perfectly content being alone, but if I am sharing time with someone compatable the experince of life can be quadruppled. So either way I am happy.So "need" someone around to be happy is NO,,,, enjoy the company of another being happy YES And I do not need drugs or booze to feel happy LOL

I actually am not happy when I am always around people. I need just a little bit of time every day or every week where it's just me, myself and I.
Also Monitorhead has a really good point. I had a poll on my blog where one of the questions was, "What do you think of yourself" and my answer was "I don't really fit in anywhere". I had several people put their answer in the comment section or on their own blogs and that was the question that remained unchanged the most. I think loners can appreciate the company of other loners because we understand.

Okay, I'm putting on my "observation" cap for just a minute.
I noticed that lots of the "regular" answerer's above pretty much said "alone is fine" and that is something I was going to say as well. But am I the only one that thinks it's curious that so many of us self-proclaimed "loners" are congregating online around each other on here? Or does it just take one to know one?

Either is fine by me. I am content alone and I am content among people.
What disturbs me is being around someone yet feeling alone.

OMG! Give me alone! PLEASE! I am so tired of never being alone. Just for 10 minutes, that is all I ask. 10 minutes. Alone is good sometimes. I miss walking to the creek on the back 40 and sitting there listening to the water babble a story and the trees blow. :)

Perfectly content whether I am alone, or with other people. People are so interesting, but I also revel in solitude.

I was quite content alone when I was in my early twentys , but the olderI I get the more I need some one to share my life with!

From what I understand, most people are either happy or unhappy regardless of whether or not other people are around them, so if you're unhappy by yourself, then you'll still be unhappy around other people, and vice versa. That said, people are social animals, and are generally happier when with a partner or group.
