Work, simple as that. It shouldn't be a free hand out for people who sit on their butts and have babies. If you work and still can not make ends meet then yes.

The healthy people getting welfare, should have to go to work and support their family,if they are trying to help theirself but don't make enough money, then welfare can step in with a helping hand and make up the difference....There are people really trying to get a head and then you have the ones, who set on their A** and do nothing.....These are the people who make it hard on very- body...

people who are able to work should work for welfare, be it collecting for charity, cleaning parks, helping out in schools, doing a variety of jobs that volunteers do, this would make them think twice about being on welfare, and get off their buts and go look for paid work. In other word no work no pay.

People that are capable of working should not continue to receive welfare. The current eligibility period for the able workers should be decreased.

In NYS we have workfare for welfare but it doesnt seem to apply to everyone. My hubbys ex wife and all her sisters are on total welfare (they are between 21 and 30) all have two or three kids and refuse to work. they go to mental health and get them to say they cant work (they are fine...fine enough to be on drugs) they really need to re-define this program. There are people who NEED the help and others who just abuse it.

Put a cap on the time a person can use the benefits, then make them ineligible for life.

Make able bodied people pay it back with interest.

If someone defaults, do a full inventory of their belongings and confiscate anything worth selling.

Mandatory drug checks. You fail, you lose out forever.

No appeals.

i think the goverment should give the folks on welfare a skill, like send them to trade school, we would save more money in the long run, and then they would have no excuse not to work.
