i posted about an hour ago ,but i have got it wrong. what i should have said is,my husband had his cholesterol results yesterday and was told it was 3.4 lbl. could you please enlighten me on thi result ,thank you

That kind of result is not familar to me. You have to be more specific. A plain cholesterol just needs more information to be accurate on what is going on with the whole person. What is the LDL? HDL? What is the ratio if the LDL is >100 and assess for risk factors. You have to look at more than just the Total cholesterol.

Without Cholesterol your body wouldn't work. Too much in the blood can increase the risk of heart disease and disease of the arteries. Main culprits eggs, offal and shell fish.Once inside the body, the liver turns this fat into Cholesterol. The average total accepted is 5.8. So I don't think your husband or you should worry.

He is within the normal range. Best to keep below 4.5mmols.
