My friend, I spent the week of 5/28 to 6/3 in Vegas and the Monorail was fine. It does cost $5 to get from the Hilton to the MGM Grand now. When you get to the Hilton, check out the Star Trek area. It is fun!!!

there was this one vegas trip I took last year and the monorail system wasn't running.. i was only there for three days and I only tried to catch that thing once. it was a pretty far walk from Las Vegas Blvd to the monorail station at the back of the MGM Grand.. i ended up just catching cabs the rest of that trip.. the walk wasn't worth the few bucks I would have saved. Plus, they situate the station so you have to walk through the casino..

There's no indication that it's out of service at the moment, although they did have a lot of downtime when it first opened in 2004. I think it will be working during your visit.
