The only way to achieve world peace is to completely annihilate basal human nature. Wars are fought over greed, jealousy, anger, bigotry, and lust. While it would be nice to imagine a world without these things, it'll never happen.

World peace is not only desirable, but possible! While there is no magic formula, the intelligence exists within us, our world, to know what needs to be done.

We have the knowledge, technology and infrastructure to achieve peace, but the problem is: MOTIVATION and TIME.

World leaders have NOT been motivated to work together in co-operation to achieve world peace -- this is a management or leadership problem!

And the world's population has not been motivated enough to motivate their political leaders - this is a civic problem!

These steps should be taken:

1. Discussion among interested parties, and agreement on process.

2. Organization - assign responsibilities, objectives, tasks and time lines.

3. ACTION!

We haven't evolved enough. Just a few hundred years ago we thought the world was flat. People still deny the Earth is more than 6000 years old. How can there be world peace? If we survive another 10,000 years, then maybe.

I agree striving for it is important. I think we can be too instinctal * if that's even a word* at times but I wonder if by striving for it we can some how overcome it. But then with the differences in society it will take a LONG time because of Religon, Power, Resources. If we could just stop being ignorant.......yeah but I'll shut up now.....before I ramble.

I don't know.

Yes world peace will be achieved. All we have to do is wait for the nukes/biological weaponry/nerve agents to fall, then all the world will not hear a whisper of hate.

No... It can;t be achieved at all... Having a peaceful world means a perfect world and people are made imperfect.

No. The USA has proved that there is a lot of money to be made when you wage war. Just ask Halliburton. That aside, people love to be at odds with one another. It is a nice idea, it just wont happen.

In an ideal world, yes.

With the current state of the world, no.

It could be achieved but probably not anytime in our lifetimes.

I don't think so. Man will always strive to take over the world so there will always be war.
