Howdy,

I have a girlfriend that I am perfectly fond of, we have a good time together. But sometimes she bums out because she's a few pounds more than "the chart" recommends. I think she's fine, I try to comfort her, I assure her that she is great and that it's no big deal - I even tell her she's beautiful and I wouldn't want a waif girlfriend, but she still carries on.

All I can think of to tell her next time is that I find it unnattractive when she whines like that, but I feel there may be something better.

What do y'all recommend?

Thanks,
Craig

She sounds really worried that you won't like her because of her weight. Let her know that you PREFER her the way she is right now and don't want her to lose weight just to fit onto some chart. Tell her that little bit extra is what gives her the figure that you love and you don't want her to lose that. Don't say that she's unattractive when she whines, because she's trying to share a concern with you that really seems to be bothering her. If you have to say anything like that, let her know that confidence in herself adds to her attractiveness and she ought to be proud of her body. Afterall, you're proud of her.

Worse comes to worse, find a different chart. Those things are nonsense anyway, because every person's body is different.

Let her know that she is beautiful and how wonderful she is. If she really feels fat, encourage her to do something about it. Walk, eat differently, and do this with her. This will help build her self confidence and by all means, don't be mean to her. Build her up with all of your down to heart feelings and encourage her with love and romance.

Tell her if she thinks she is getting fat to exercise or go on a diet and stop complaining.

go on dates that involve exercise. she sounds like she's basically not confortable with herself. if she keeps saying she's fat even though you, her man, tells her she's beautiful. how did you say it? did you say it fast? or did you look in her eyes and say it like you REALLy mean it? that makes a difference too.
