I was turning away jobs.. good paying jobs.. Is it discrimination not to hire someone with a felony.. depending on what it is.. and what type of job..

--You need to gather all of your official documents on the felony, take them to your probation officer first and ask for advice, completely explain your situation to the officer with full details, do not leave anything out, tell him/her that you have been homeless etc. Ask him/her to write a letter of high recommendation for you (on legal letterhead) regarding your character etc.

-Second, contact all of your favorable, previous employers and ask for letters of recommendation.

-Third, gather character references from friends you have known for more than 5 years.

-Fourth, go to your local employment agency and lay out the whole issue with them, be completely up-front and be sure to show them the letter from your probation officer, business references and character references.

The whole point now will be for you to accept any job, no matter what the pay or position...you are on a mission to re-build your work accreditation.

Also, once you have held a job for a while contact any personal friends you may know in the business/work sect and ask them if they have any positions open.

Best of luck to you.

Go to firstgov.gov which is the Federal Govt. main portal. Look around there for some answers. Maybe contact the Dept. of Labor in your state. Good luck.

I would check with your parole officer..... he should be able to give you guidance in finding employment or try the local dept. of welfare or the state employment office. They should be able to help you. best of luck to you.

Your probation officer should be able to help you on this. Or ask your states attorney.
