I THINK that the toreador is the one with the red cape to which people yell "¡Olé!". The matador, as his name clearly implies in Spanish does the final killing.

Bullfighting is so abusive, that I always root for the bull.

Talking about bullfighting, here's a related story:

An American tourist vacationing in Spain went to this quaint little restaurant just outside the Plaza de Toros (bullfighting ring). While drinking his cerveza (beer) he sees the waiter serving an exoting looking dish to a local. It smelled so incredibly delicious, that he told the waiter that he wanted the same exact dish.

"You see, señor", said the waiter, "those were the testicles of the bull that was killed today at the Plaza de Toros. We only serve one of those dishes every day. You'd have to come back mañana (tomorrow).

So first thing after the next day's corrida (bullfighting show) the eager tourist goes to the fonda (small restaurant) and signals the waiter who immediately comes out of the kitchen with the delicious smelling dish. The tourist tastes it and could not believe how delicious it was. It was heaven for his taste buds. He became so enamored of the dish, that he tells the waiter that he'll come back the next day. He does. And then wants to come back the next and the next.

On the forth day, the same routine. But this time, something was different. The dish looked the same, but the balls were considerably smaller. He ate them anyway, but after wiping the plate clean, he complained to the waiter about the much smaller portion.

"You see, señor", explained the waiter, "the bull sometimes wins."
