I'm in love with someone who I'll never be able to have and it's killing me, what should I do?

Don't let it kill you, look at it from the positive side, love is the best thing that could happen to a human being and life is nothing without it. So you have the best thing in the world and enjoy it and don't make yourself forget him, you won't be able anyway and it will make you even more miserable. Deep in your heart you will always care about him. This is exactly where I am standing now and I have tried to forget him 100s of times, relocated, cut contacts... nothing helps, I am dying without him. Just follow your heart, make yourself happy with what you have and be open to life, see what it has for you down the road. Meanwhile just enjoy your love and remember you already have him 'cause you LOVE him:)

I have been in the exact position. I decided to move away and I did. I found a job, new environment but I still did e-mail and sometimes when I went back home, I met him. I would go through periods of being upset with myself and there would be months of no contact. He still is a great guy and I will always love him but I am also realistic. I have finally been able to cut off all contact and just feel deep in my heart and soul that I am proud of myself that I did the right thing. I have dated another guy who I really like and is cute and treats me well. I don't dwell on the past and have made a conscious decision not to be miserable about someone I cannot have. I have a good job and live somewhere that is a wealth of activities and good weather. Life is what you decide to make it. You have more power than you know.....make the most of it!

People are not GODS... this person is a human and although you may be idolizing them right now and thinking they're the one and only, there are a milion one and onlies out there that are just as good or better, so don't think you've lost the only chance.
