This is what “diversity” has given us:

4 or 5 Crusades into Palestine
500 years of conflict in Ireland between the Catholics and Protestants
WWII
American Civil War
Countless American Indians conflicts
Rwanda between the tutsi and hutu
Countless Equal Employment Opportunity lawsuits
KKK
The minute men on the mexican border
John Crow laws
MS-13
Never ending conflict between Israel and her neighbors
185 different nations in this world
Massacre of Armenians in Turkey
South African Apartheid
Sept. 11, 2001
Civil War in Sudan today
Kosovo – Serbia civil war

I can’t think of ONE benefit that diversity given us…ONLY conflict, war, torture, internal strife, discrimination and death.

What i'm trying to say: Bring two groups of people together the result will be:

At the very best: mild internal strife, like in the US.

At the very worse: total massacre like in Sudan today.

I listed countless examples to back up my statement.

All of my examples are based on: race and/or religion

diversity is another name for white guilt...white now blame themselves for all of societiy's woes. Get real.. diversity just reduces everyone to the lowest common demonator. No wonder Asia is whipping oour @ss in manufacturing.

It isn't diversity that causes the conflict; it is the resistance and suppression of diversity that causes the conflict. Take a look at your on examples. In all of them you had someone saying, "I am right and you are wrong for not being like me" as well as someone saying, "I don't have to be like you." If people would just accept the fact that we are different, stop trying to pretend we aren't, and stop trying to turn everyone into clones with the same look and same beliefs there wouldn't be so much conflict. People need to adopt the live and let live philosophy. Be concerned with your own life and let others live theirs.

Without diversity there would be no opportunity to learn from people sharing different views. Without diversity the world would be rather boring because, in the case of the US, it is the mixing of cultures that created a unique society. Without diversity, art, music, and education would become stagnant. For a modern day example, look at the Abercrombie catalogs; aside from the partial nudity, they get pretty boring after a while. Why? Because there is no diversity in look or style.

It is easy to say diversity is the problem, but in reality, it is trying to limit diversity and not accepting it that creates conflict.

I see, so in other words you want everyone on the planet to look act and think exactly as you do? Without diversity, there could be no independent thought or even individual thought. If each person doesn't have the chance to be unique then what is the point of living to begin with?

I'm not saying that the things that you mentioned are good things but what I am saying is that ...... well .... **** happens ...

Each of the things listed above was caused by people that do not THINK by themselves. People that do, take the time to look at all sides of the situation and make rational choices.

Sorry but you cant condemn the entire human race because of the actions of idiots (and as you are well aware, there are plenty of idiots out there)

An interesting point of view.

If people were all the same, many of the things you list wouldn't have happened. And the benefits of diversity are often less tangible or measurable.

However, attempts to not bring people together have not fared much better. In fact, many of your examples, sich as Jim Crow laws, Apartheid, the Minutemen, and the KKK, arise from people's attempts to _avoid_ diversity and live separately. Since the reality is that there are differences between people and we are going to interact anyway, then the cold reality is, it makes sense to appreciate each other and try to get along and learn from one another.

Plus, one thing to add to the tally of pro-diversity things:

Me.

If it weren't for an Italian-American woman and a Jewish-American man meeting in Nigeria in the 1960s, then I wouldn't be here to bust your cops.

You've listed a great many instances of disagreements between people, but I fail to see how that relates to the idea of "diversity". You bring up a valid point that people with diverse interests will have diverse agendas.
Isn't that to be expected?

Would you rather that everyone thought exactly the same thoughts, or made the exact same choices?

Wouldn't you have a hard time finding your car in the parking lot?

I don't wish to make make like of the situation, but honestly, what do you propose to make everyone get along?

For as long as the human race endures, I fail to see a time when there will be complete agreement between all people. If it isn't skin color, or language, it will be some other arbitrary trait that humans will use to classify and categorize themselves. I don't even want to start talking about who one prays to at night, as that is another discussion entirely.

Bottom line is that we are social animals. We'll organize ourselves in groups we feel comfortable. This in turn causes us to look at our similarities and also our differences. DIVERSITY lies in how those groups are organized, along what lines, along what thoughts. The solution lies in how we as a people can tolerate the differences. DIVERSITY isn't the problem.

Diversity has gotten us a little ways in America/USA. We all could eat at the same places, go to the same schools, same bathrooms, almost the same opportunities. No everything isn't great which is very obvious but diversity is the way God made it. Diversity is a GREAT THING!!! I am glad there is a diverse amount of people in this world. Other wise it would be very boring and we would all look the same. I wouldn't be mixed-black, white, dutch, polish, american indian and who knows what else but I enjoy being me. How would the world really look if they were all white? or black? or high yellow like myself? I think that man has made the decision to be racist! It was easy for the Europeans to take advantage of Afrikans because guess what.. the color of their skin! Just because Afrikans were and are different. Needless to say many things in your home are made by Afrikan Americans which originate from Afrika. So, with out diversity clothing wood be dirty, not ironed.. no light... many things would not be here today without diversity. So, who are you to say that diversity shouldn't be????

Uh???

Europeans started the mess and continued it by bringing Afrikans to America which then they killed the high yellow-Indians to take the land and make Afrikans endentured servants... raped, killed, and tortured on a daily basis just to have "CONTROL" over another human being. How cruel is that???

It's not the diversity that's the problem.. it's people like you that think one race is better than the other.

I love all races but the people I dont like are those that discriminate a person because of the color of their skin. So, be it my skin is darker but guess what I save on going tanning or tanning aids... or cancer b/c white's have a higher chance in getting skin cancer b/c they dont have enough mellonin... but you dont care b/c this society was built on white is right but truely not all white people are right... nor are all black or any other race for that matter. It depends on the heart condition... God knows your heart and all others' hearts so I know what I have to answer to but it wont be being racist b/c God created all races and I love them all b/c of it. It's not the entire race of people that are racist it's a few people that ruin it for the rest of the race. As for me... I dont look at a race I look at the person... b/c when it comes down to it... we all have that in common and that's the only thing that matters.. is that we are all human and do all the human things the same.

So, your question as sparked me and I pray that you see that it isn't to be negative towards you... it's to have you open your eyes... Diversity is a God made thing not a man made thing.... REMEMBER that...
Peace

In some cases true, but in most it gives us a chance to learn from one another. I'm black and although I love my race I also want to be around other races, too. Unfortunately, all of those things are still going to exist. If races weren't around one another than there would be class discrimination instead of racism, both strong forces of hatred. I love diversity, quiet as kept we as human kind need one another to survive. Sure there are things we won't agree on and probably never will. Yet, its a lot better to have a diverse culture around. It's like one big crayola box, with a few not playing nice...lol. Great question though. Thought provoking.

What you just listed is not an example of diversity, it's just one of hatred, jealousy, misunderstanding and intolerance. If people paid just a little bit of attention to the other's point of view and sensitivities, many of these could be avoided. If everybody were the same, this world would be the most boring place to live in.

Cons: Diversity issues change over time, depending on local historical conditions.

Pros: First, it is a must, that individuals with diverse sources of knowledge share their unique perspectives with others.

Second, apart from information sharing it is important to have a debate: critically challenging and defending the unique perspectives of group members.

With such deep information processing, positive performance consequences are more likely to result.

How about that?

You've totally got a point-- but individuality is very important to me. Have you ever read the Giver by Lois Lowry? It gives a very good insight into what we'd be like if we were all the same.
