I have been to the World Science Fiction Convention 17 times in 21 years. It is fun meeting authors and seeing the exhibits.

Greetings from the Yahoo Brain in New York City!
Hope you're watching the live Answers webcast at http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/asktheplanet/brain.html !

I've been to San Diego's Comic-Con International several times, and you can't beat it for scale, weather, activities, and sheer number of freakish sights.

I've also been to WizardWorld Philly a couple of times, and the Big Apple Con.

Hope this helps!
