wel it probly says where the frets are just i dont know where like at the top it will say like D6 or D9+5

there will be a number next to the chord. If there is a 3 then you know to bar the 3rd fret. Hey try this website www.chordie.com it has thousands upon thousands of songs with finger positions for chords. have fun

If I understand your question, if you have the correct finger placement of the chord you can use any fret you like, and still be playing the chord only in a different key. Take the E minor chord which would be 0-2-2-1-0-0 if you use the 3rd fret but keep your fingers the same 3-5-5-4-3-3 you now have A. Its called a Bar Chord.

By the number. If it says 1 on E that means first fret on the E string.

Use the frets at the top of the neck,unless you`re using a capo.
