I'm looking for an advertising position, preferably as part of a think tank.. but I dont really know how to put that on my resume, and I feel like it says I can't work alone or am looking for the easy way out, but that's not what I'm trying to get through. Anyone have suggestions to help?

Basically you'll just have to put in your objective that you are "Seeking a position in advertising as part of a collective group of professionals". That is the best way I can think of to say it. Don't be afraid to elaborate in a cover letter that you would like to be part of a think tank. Just remember to reinforce on that cv that you are not in any way not able to work independently, but that you think your greatest strength comes in a collective effort.

Good luck!

I haven't any idea whether "think tanks" advertise...you might research this first. As with any job search, achieving your objective may take time and patience, and perhaps a devious route. First, get any job in advertising to get experience and establish a network. Then, use the network to find the right contacts who may open the doors you want to have opened. Oh yes, and be polite and professional at all times -- do your work well, send thank you notes and communicate how appreciative you are of the help others offer.

A think tank! That is just big brain people, and it takes along time to get there. You have get yourself on Boards first. Learn, Learn, Learn- people or what every you are interested in. Play chess, help others with there problems. You sound young, keep up the good thinking. We need leaders.

In order to avoid "looking like you can't work alone" which is what you describe is the problem on your resume, use phrases like....am a teamplayer, or want to join a team effort, or love brainstorming with others....something along those lines.
