I have heard conservatives accuse liberals/Democrats (though the one doesn't necessarily go with the other) with not having an agenda. As a liberal Democrat, I know the basic ideals and agenda of my own party and political philosophy. What exactly is the conservative and/or Republican political agenda and philosophy.

Note: This is a question aimed at conservatives and Republicans. No bashing from the left. I genuinely want to know.

Smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense are the 3 main cornerstones of conservatism. (two out of 3 ain't bad, some would say).

Conservatives tend to be methodical and calculating, while liberals tend to be activists for change. Conservatives support the established government and the troops, while liberals HATE the government, despise the military, and blame the USA for all the evils of the world. If Al Queda sets off a blast that kills hundreds of innocent people the conservative will condemn Al Queda for it, while the liberal will try to justify the actions and blame the USA (Bush) for it.

Conservatives see the glass as half full, Liberals see it half empty. Conservatives see limitations on free speech, while Liberals see it as unlimited. Conservatives see big business as capitalism, while Liberals see it as corruption. Conservatives see the placement of Colin Powell and Condi Rice as Secretaries of State as monumental and groud-breaking, while liberals see it as "token ******" put into office for politics, not merit. Liberals see the war in Iraq as for oil, Conservatives see it as to promote Democracy in the heart of the middle east (and to get rid of an brutal dictator).

Liberals preach tolerance to others, but are intolerant to those they disagree with. Conservatives hold their tongue and plan their strategy, while liberals are in constant attack mode while offering no ideas of improvement.

Conservatives are held under a microscope and the smallest of infractions are bombasted, while liberals are allowed to get away with murder, and I mean that literally in some cases, (Ted Kennedy and his nephew). Robert Bryd is a known separatist and former KKK member. He is a strong Democrat. Party members shrug his past off as "youthful indiscretion". If a republican had such a past it would never be allowed.

Gay Marraige is not a conservative ideal, and therefore not on the conservative agenda. It is, however, on the liberal (activist) agenda. Abortion rights is the same. Socialized medicine is also not conservative thought, its liberal.

Conservatives tend to believe in God, and thus morals play a big part. Liberals tend to be Athiests, and lack of morals are evident in their thinking...i.e. gay issues, abortion rights, etc. Liberals are always preaching rights rights rights. How about the right to own a firearm under article 2 of the constitutiion? That doesnt fit their agenda, so they are against it.

Liberals continually talk about separation of church and state. I have found no place in the constitution where the words separation of church and state are mentioned, and I don't think you can find it either. It mentions only the government shall not sponser religion...not isolate itself from it.

And finally, liberals are globalists. They seek approval from bodies such as the U.N. before doing anything. Conservatives do not ignore the U.N. and will go to it, but retain the right to act as a sovereign nation if they feel the U.N. is in error.

So very typical of conservatives. their only agenda, as explained here, is that they are against everything the liberals are for... ie. Conservatives see a glass half full, Liberals see the glass half empty...whoa...stark analysis. supported no doubt by the 1% of the 1% of the scientist who believe the earth is only 6000 years old and mostly flat. Human existence requires us to be progressive, it requires us to adapt. Don't be tricked into believing they have our best interest at heart. They intend to take care of themselves and the rest of us be damned.

I use to be a registered Republican. Personally, the more world history I read, the more I see what's going on around us, the less faith I have in any political institution. I'm not copping out, nor am apathetic. Quite to the contrary. I believe there is a higher power. It's up to us, the people, to excercise as much decency, good conscience, and honesty in the three foot perimeter we occupy as we possibly can. One moment at a time.
