I can't believe no one put Hellsing! Well, let me be the first to recommend you that one! Unless you've already read it. Then you should flip over to Berserk. Yup.
Anyway, the Hellsing manga has a lot of blood and is beautifully detailed when it is shown. Not the mention the demonic aurora that seems to naturally come with it.
Hellsing is an organization from the Protestant side of the woods that is sworn to protect England and the queen from the many demonic dangers that lurk around. Lately, vampires have been surfacing at alarming rates but no need to fear! The Hellsing organization has a vampire of their own, Alucard, sometimes spelled Arucard.
Along with the newly turned ex-officer, Seras Victoria, this pair takes on the challenge.
It soon surfaces that the reason why so many vampires were lurking around was because a WWII SS Officer wishes to bring back a wave of war...or "var" as he says. In what way? By bringing on a army-sized group of Nazi vampires to demolish the freakin' world of course.
Now...how will the Hellsing Organization deal with that?
Hope you enjoy it if you do decide on reading it and I also do recommend the options of everyone else.

Hellsing has a decent story. gore huh? Well your looking for manga not anime right? So I would say Parasyte,Tomie,Uzumaki. These are the top J-Horror Manga. Although the last two made for great and freak live action features.

1 manga comes to mind when you mention good storyline and gore.
berserk is one of them. the main character is a scorned man named guts, who has spent all his life on the battlefield as a mercenary. he has the inhuman ability to swing a bastard sword rivaling clouds from FF7 with ease, mowing down enemies and secretly savoring the power. missing an eye and having a metal prosthetic arm, he is feared as the black swordsman, a man who has slain over 1000 men in the war for midland.
on his neck is the cursed mark of the brand, which bleeds when any supernatural being is close by and out to kill him, meaning he can never sleep soundly again. his past, his future, and his burning ambition for revenge against best friend Griffith who betrayed him, are the only things that spur him onward. not to spoil anymore for you, there's a few mature scenes and nudity, but this tale has action, love, hate, sacrifice, massive death tolls, supernatural beings, heaven, hell, giant demonic beasts and epic battles that would turn Jerry bruckheimer on his ear. it's the dark ages done right, and i swear you will enjoy it.
