Follow any of the above advise and you will have a website that looks or works like what you paid for it. If you truly want to be successful in business you really don't want the first thing that potentially hundreds or thousand of people might see is some home made web page.

True, any idiot can make a web page, most of them look like an idiot made it and most of them are either out of business or did what I did after I tried to do it myself and called a professional. Home made websites are like homemade brochures, they scream amateur, unprofessional and newbie.

You can find custom affordable web developers out there with a little work. Look for some one that has a large portfolio of work, who is proficient on all phases of what makes a successful website ie: Quality (non template) graphics, well defined and logical navigation, well functioning code/scripts and programs and most importantly marketing. You want someone who will help your website function as a major part of your marketing effort not as a hacked up afterthought.

Remember two things....
1) It does you no good to have a great billboard if it is sitting in the middle of the desert where nobody will see it (in other words, if nobody can find your website, what good is it).
2) You never get a second chance to make a good first impression.

I used a company down in California called Bright Hope Designs to do my sites for me. They are where I learned what I'm telling you. I was an amateur and they are very professional and are affordable.

Ask your current Internet Service Provider (ISP) what hosting offers they have. In many cases they will include free or low cost Web design programs to get you up and running. A full featured program like FrontPage or Dreamweaver is not needed to create a simple business website.

You can actually download at no charge a site building tool from SBC Yahoo small business. Very easy to use. Web hosting fees are about $10 per month.
