It does not sound too serious....fix it "out of pocket" and don't bother with filing a claim through the insurance office, this will keep your premium the same. The cost for fixing a "ding" like that is not high, so easily can be covered without assistance from your insurance agency

Another variable would be the age and condition of the car...if it is a beater you simply use for running around, then don't even bother fixing the dent, but if the car is new or semi-new...go ahead fix it yourself, you will feel better.

a ding that small is not worth the money to fix it. just leave it in the car, it's not going to affect the operation any. besides, unless it's in the windshield, you shouldnt be staring at it while yer goin down the road anyways. just be glad you dont have a dent running from the rear edge of the front quarter panel to the back of the rear fender.

absolutely do not go through your insurane, if it bugs you that bad you can get it fixed for $200-$400 at any body shop. They have to strip the trunk, smooth out the dent, sand, prime, sand paint color and clearcoat...unless the car means alot to you, then to hell with it.

You could pay to have it fixed yourself-I have done this. Depends if the cost is less than the potential increase in insurance rates-and it probably will be.

it depends how new your car is, if it is an older one anyways, i don't think i would waste going through insurance to get it fixed.

unless it affects opening your trunk up, i don't think it matters too much.

Your insurance won't go up if you don't report it. The repair cost would probably be less than your deductible anyway.
