Movie rental, retail stores, mall...It's hard to say without knowing whats available to you.

You have so many possibilities. What are your interests? Many suggestions were already given. Do you like the beach - if so, try working at a surf shop or a lifeguard at any position that may be open at a local pool.

Also look for something that may continue to be available during the school year part time after school.

How about a hostess in a restaurant!

Interested in the medical field - go to a local hospital and see what part time jobs are available.

If you think and look hard enough, you will find something

I am sure you have tried the malls and clothing stores. Have you tried pet shops? Could you handle giving a dog a bath? Lots of those places are hiring. How about trying Nursing homes. I know someone who got a job simply throwing sheets in the washing machine and then putting them in the dryer. Easy! Go to a Temp Company and fill out an application. They will call you for lots of office jobs like answering phones, stuffing envelopes or filing things. Good luck.

I hated the idea of working in fast food when I was a teenager. So, I've worked at a grocery store for the past 7 years, and it's been pretty good. I work in the video department now, and I LOVE it. There are lots of departments, so if you hate one, you can always ask for a transfer! I also worked at a bookstore one year, and that was fantastic. Check out seasonal stuff too, like lifeguarding and such.

Good luck!

Since you have never had a job, try applying or calling one of your local landscaping companies. They are usually always looking for someone to help and many of the positions need no experience.

That being said, don't eschew fast food businesses because your friends may laugh. It is a good way to learn what it is like to work for a living. And this will definitely help lead you to a path of higher education.

Good luck.

Well staying away from fast food is going to be tough, I did 11 years in the Army and it took me 2 months to find a job. And I didn't want to flip burgers either. Most employers want some college, which I don't have, and they want people with experience. Sorry to say, but your only option probably will be in the fast food industry.

I think a good summer job for a teen without experience would be a volunteer position at your local zoo, hospital, or any charity organization. This will give you a start in seeing what it is you may like to do and give you something to put on a resume. If you need money, check out the local temporary employment agencies.

My Favorite summer jobs:
1. Working at a theme park (universal studios)
2. Hostess at a restaurant (free food and I could work part time when school started)
3. Camp Councilor

Consider a job in a manufacturing plant after you reach 18. It might be stacking boxes or watching cartons go down a line at first, but the skills you learn being present in the environment might lead to a career path. Think along the lines of being a lead or production supervisor in 4 years.

If it is a noisy environment, protect your hearing with ear plugs!

No fast foods. Fast food is horrible. Also NO grocery stores. But other than that, just look around. Restaurants, movie theaters, Starbucks, anything in your area that isn't the same thing over and over again would be interesting, at least for a while.

Go to the YMCA and take water safety training. Lifeguarding pays well, and is pretty flexible to your scheduling possibilities. Another idea if you dare is lawn care. I knew a girl who charged $40 a lawn and did ten lawns a day five days a week. That's $6,000 a summer. All se needed was a lawnmower and some trash bags. Think about it.
