I haven't seen too many horror films and I feel like I need a good scare. Suggsetions?

Really, I've like only seen:
The Ring (1&2)
When a Stranger Calls (remake)
Storm of the Century (made for TV Stephen King)
The Mothman Prophecies (not scary at ALL)
&& some others but not too much

Please no stupid answers like BARNEY or HAPPY GILMORE, because those aren't scary, you know?

THANKS!

yeah, when a stranger calls was NOT scary at all. they just, like you said, REALLY stretched the whole have you checked the children thing out forever.

I've never been truly scared by movies but I've been distrubed or creeped out.

Those are:

Last House On The Left
The Shining (while it was not scary Jack Nicholson was disturbingly creepy in that)

Though I just have to say, When A Stranger Calls? All it was was the 1st 25 minutes of the original stretched out and beaten out to a point of redundancy and pretentiousness.

"An Inconvenient Truth" is the scariest movie I've ever seen.

It's not scary because there are monsters, zombies, or murderers on the lose, it's scary because it's true.

I also suggest "The Silence of the Lambs" and "Seven" (AKA Se7en), two great thrillers! Don't read anything about Seven, you'll ruin the ending for yourself!

I looked at some scariest movie sites and these three movies seemed to show up quite a bit:

"The Exorcist"
"The Shining" (the original)
"Psycho" (the original)

They are classic horrors and I recommend the last two. (I haven't seen the Exorcist yet).

There are many different kinds of scary movies. There are thrillers, horrors, slashers, suspense, etc. A lot of scary movies are unintentionally funny and end up being comedies. I'm not exactly sure what type you're looking for, but, if you decide to see what I recommended, I hope you like them.

The scariest movie I ever saw was one I saw when I was a kid. It still scares me to this day and it's a Disney movie. It's called Watcher in the woods. It has Betty Davis, who is soooo freaky in this movie. It scared me a lot!
