I will be moving to Connecticut in August of 2006 I am looking at Hartford and Litchfield counties. I am not very familiar with this area so what towns or areas should I avoid? When I say avoid I mean high drug area, high crime area, or just plain trashy looking. Thanks everyone for your input.

Hartford has high drug and crime areas. West Hartford and the
Farmington Area is nice but all of Litchfield County is very
beautiful. Litchfield itself is a historic lovely town with some famous people living there. The fall with the colored leaves and the fairs and very pretty lakes and forest areas are breathtaking.
Norfolk has artisan guilds, Watertown,Goshen and Harwinton have fairs. Bethlehem has a christmas fair up and down the streets and a famous catholic monastery and farm.Horse
ranches and farms galore. Torrington has the Nutmeg Ballet and
Center for the Arts,Salisbury Twin Lakes Sharon Audoban center

Avoid Greenwich, New Canaan, & Wilton at all costs. Pretentious and empty.
