... the public should throw out all the ones that brought this to a vote... it clearly wasn't going to pass and was a huge waste of taxpayer dollars...
This is just one reason the debt is so high... irresponsible spending like this...

This Republican isn't.
Since the sixties and forced integration, the Feds have been in all sorts of things that should, Constitutionally, be the purview of the states. Marriage is a contract sanctioned by the individual states and the Feds have no business restricting it.
If we are going to talk equality, lets be equal, otherwise, lets just continue with Democrat introduced Affirmative Action and quit the charade.
Oh, I guess we have.

It's silly to be angry about something that is inevitable. It's legal is Massachusetts.
Gay marriage is a hot issue MOSTLY because gay couples want the same benefits as married heterosexual couples. Marriage should be based on love and commitment, not benefits. Either way, I'm feeling more and more ambivalent on the issue all the time. Who cares? There's bigger fish to fry in the world--Iran, anyone?

No they are not mad, the ones that voted for it will get the votes from their constituents because they put it to a vote, and on the campaign trail the repuglicans can claim they need more repuglicans to pass it and that we should buy it and vote for a repuglican. I wonder what happens when they find out that most Americans either don't care or do not want the constitution changed for such a frivolous reason.

I'm not. I don't think many other Republicans are, either. This was really only a show of resolve on the issue of gay marriage, not a legitimate attempt to ban it. The true Republican platform on this issue has always been to leave it up to the state governments to decide.

NO! I am a Republican and I sat there holding my breath all day waiting for the result. People have the right to do whatever they want and live however they want. The administration's thinly veiled excuse that they were actually trying to protect state's rights by prohibiting courts in the states to overturn their verdicts was garbage. I am very glad today's vote went the way it did...and secretly, I think GWB is too. He really couldn't have cared less but needs to cater to his christian right and their money...

No. It forced the dems to cast a vote that will hurt them in the mid-term elections. That was the whole purpose of bringing it to a vote.

I'm happy that it was rejected. Any marriage between two
consending adults who love each other should never be banned.
