Do you mean the electronic voices? I think you have to live with those... I get calls from Indian call centre people trying to get me to switch network though. Before they bothered me, but now I'm signed up with Telewest, and the contract runs for a year, so there's no way they can get me to sign up for them. It's something of a relief. Telewest phone charges may be piracy, but they're British pirates!

If it's a land line phone then go change your number, go ex directory and only give the number to family friends work, hospital , doctor etc. (we did that years ago, no double glazing calls or anything else).

Ring up BT and ask them for BT Privacy.
Ever since I did this I've not had 1 call from people claiming I ''need'' new windows etc

Because survey and/or fundraising calls are not covered by the National Do Not Call list, you will still get these calls. If you don't want them, ask the caller to place you on their "do not call" list.

sign up at www.donotcall.gov - the 'no call' list. You will still receive survey and fundraising calls, but the sales calls should stop.
