Prejudice is the main reason why someone would dislike a person for their race, religion. etc. The roots for prejudice steam mainly from family values, from a young age you believe what ever your parents believe, if you are bought up with an opinion on something that your parents always said, its most likely that you will end up following through on those same opinions. This is also true for any religion, if you are a high believer in something or someone then you are likely to follow any thoughts they carry. Another reason for prejudice can be ones life experiences, if we have a bad experience with something then we are likely to generalize and make assumptions that all future experiences will be like the first one....why we tend to be prejudice is because humans tend to like to stay the same, as a whole we do not like change, so when something comes along that proposes change then we will have an instant reaction to say we don't like it. a great example is food, just because we tried Japanese food, doesn't mean we wont like Thai food, although we wold be likely to decline trying it because we assume it would be just as bad as the Japanese experience.

Ignorance, poor teaching, stuff like that.
I don't think I am racist or anything like that but I am sure I would be told I was with some of my opinions, like what that person said about immigrants rights and things. I have a problem with that for many reasons, none of those reasons are to do with the colour of their skin.

Some people are brought up that way and have closed minds, when I was at school, it wasn't really until year 10 and 11 that the different coloured people had their own groups, it was quite strange, but then in College it was even worse. I can't say what I want to say, because some people will take it as racist, even though it's only truthful.

People behave in this way because they believe they are separate from other people. This is a huge concept but it answers your question perfectly. The reality is only love is real. Everything other than love is just an illusion. While we are here on earth there are "different" looking and acting people. However we are all members of the same family. We have a spiritual DNA that supercedes the DNA of our physical body. We are all one within the eyes of "GOD" (I use the name GOD to encompass the spiritual creator link within all living things).

If you believe you are different from others that makes it ok to dislike them, to discriminate against them, to act against them.

religion is the true reason of hate, religions have caused death since they started, christians and muslims especially. all 3 major religions stem from the same belief. christians, muslims, jewish. history is important to learn from the mistakes but no one really does learn, they just all breed hate against each other better off without religion as its all a fairy story to give people something to believe in.

Perhaps it is fear of the unknown, or perhaps jealousy or they may have been raised to feel this way. Whatever the reason, it takes time, kindness and understanding to help a person to see the good in someone else and this will help to change their attitude. And we must raise our children to love all people no matter what their race, color, religion, etc.

their upbringing. if their parents or grandparents have had a bad experience with someone from another religion/ different race/ different region then they teach their kids to hate them and the hatred continues through generations.
