He believes that he is the "answerman" and is never wrong. If everyone would just do it his way, the world would be a better place. Why would someone believe that they are so superior? Also, he is a sports freak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Literally. Any advice on how to approach and deal with this is appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like a minor ego issue, many guys are this way. Perhaps he is trying to impress you with all of his "knowledge". Is he a "sports freak" at home or does he need to go out all of the time? Do these things REALLY bother your or are they just buggy? If they are really bothersome you need to clearly communicate to him that he is hurting the relationship. I will tell you that no one is perfect and you may just want to look at what you have and pick your battles accordingly.

If you're into Myers-Briggs personality theory, this guy sounds like an ESTJ or something along that line. Find out what you are, (and him if you can get him to try to take the online test) and then go to the site that talks about relationships between types. It helps to understand a little how a person thinks and behaves and then you can learn to "talk their language" so to speak. On a personal level, I just stay far far away from people like that, I can't stand being constantly criticised and bossed around.

Take away ESPN, Sunday NFL and anything else sports related and there goes half your problem. Ever notice how professional athletes see themselves as the greatest thing since ice cream? My guess is half of your husbands problem is living his living vicariously through other people.
Suggestion, start making notes of every time he tells you that he's right about something and then without arument go and do the research to either support or disprove that claim. Once a week or so present him with that list divided into two columns, one for right and one for wrong. Don't argue about it with him and don't make any claims as to 'I told you so'. Simply tell him if he still disagrees then go and prove you wrong because majority rules.

Nope I think you are married to my husband.... ROFL........ honey this is just a man for ya...... they don't really mean to be this way, they just are..... after 30 years of it I have just learned to smile and shake my head and then do it MY WAY....... in big matters the secret is to plant the seed... talk about something a week ahead of time, a trip or an event YOU want to do, talk in general and like it is NO big deal to you, that is planting the seed.. then sit back and watch, the man will have this *brilliant* idea about it, the thing you mentioned, and he will think it was all HIS plan and idea....... ROFL......... just smile and go with the flow !!! being a sports freak is something I really don't relate to... Hubby is not one so i don't have to deal with that part of it..... but you could by another TV and watch what YOU want.... or going shopping with friends while he plays Tarzan......... You have to find you in all this........ leave him to be him and he will leave you to be you...... well , in most cases that happens........ God bless

This is where you husband is wrong .... Neither the husband or wife is always right in everything and he has to realize this. He needs counseling and so do you. Is he open to marriage counseling? Does he ever listen to you. Since he is a sports freak spend time with him and his sports. IF he thinks he is right say okay honey and move on lol!

Tell him if he's so smart and right about everything, how come he's not out in the real world convincing everyone how smart he is? Hell he should be on Jeopardy raking in the dough with his smarts. Stop talking about it already and go show the world how smart he is. Next time he starts in, tell him what did you already tell him about that? The world is waiting for him so hop to it.

HA!!! I think my husband and your husband are clones! They are little boys in men's bodies, but you have to love 'em! Ok, I just let him watch his sports while I go into the den and watch my "sappy shows". As far as him being always right, he probably says that you think you're always right, doesn't he? Just have to try to talk things out!! Good luck!

Do NOT STEP DOWN!!!

Show him that you are an individual and are not going to stand for his bs.

If this continues, get professional help.

A REAL husband would look for equality. TELL him how you feel and let him know that you want equality under your roof, not slavery.

I went on strike with my hubby. Since I wasn't doing everything according to his standards and he could do it "better". I tossed up my hands and kicked my feet up and relaxed.
He came around eventually, but still has those quirks. I all men think they are right about everything.
