it is extremely difficult here to get internet connection due to large and rigid system that is in place. We do have dial up though, and just wondering if we can get a wireless connection if we hook a router to the dial up connection?

yes it is. it does not change the performance of your internet connection only the frreedom in the transmission range of the router to your pc or l/top. think of the router as a transmitter and any selected pc, l/top as a reciever. they can recieve a signal only as fast as the router can transmit, often speed is lost in transmission. therefore if your internet provider is via a slow dial up then the transmission to your pc, l/top will only be as fast as that dial up or slower. the advantage is that only the router needs to be situated next to phone line and your pc, l/top can be remote

If your dialup computer has windows xp you can share the connection with your network. Put a wireless card in xp (or usb) and allow it to connect with the other wireless computers in your house. Will work but will be slow because of dialup.
