I have several "replacement" parts in my body from an auto accident. The metal they use is usually titanium or stainless; with other plastic parts. I can tell you the only problems I've had with the implants and plates is when the weather gets cold or I'm over-active. The ache. Otherwise, They feel like the real thing. I'm sure he will be just fine; but he will be in pain for a little while. God bless and tell him good luck for me.

I don't know how old your son is, but I would recommend avoiding any plates for a clavicle fracture. Most of these fractures heal well on their own. Your son may end up with a little bulge over the collar bone but that is better than having a plate which is prone to infection, pain and long time weather related discomfort. Good luck. I am sure if he has the plates, they can be removed in the future if problems develop.
