Well, of course, you can talk to your pet... I guess the better question is 'if your pet could answer back...'

My dog is gone now 4 years, but I would have liked her to tell me if she knew I loved her, was it okay that I put her down, when I did, was there anything else I could have done to soothe her pain.

I talk to my cat all the time and she sometimes in her own way talks back to me. I think it's cute. I ask my cat if she is hungry and if she is she will meow back at me. When she wants something she just meows at me and I try to figure out what she wants until she stops meowing or she gives up. I hope that this is the kind of answer you are looking for.
