Try reformatting your iPod back to factory settings using iPod Updater. It came on the CD when you bought the iPod, but since then, there has been an updated version to that software. Go to http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ to download the latest version.
The only problem with reformatting your iPod is that you have to wait for it to upload all the songs again...

It may be that you haven't connected your iPod with your computer and iTunes for a while because sometimes you loose the songs if you don't have your membership going like if you cancel your Napster membership you loose all music you had on your MP3 player. If that doesn't work then I would try to contact Apple's Customer Service at http://www.apple.com/support/ . If that doesn't work then email the support crew again asking for a repair/replacement assement if it still has a warrenty. But if this product was bought within a year you may simply have to pay shipping costs for it. But if you bought your iPod over a year ago you may have to pay both shipping costs and repair costs because this is the way it was with me and Creative: I thought I had a faulty product and they said that they'd asess it for me for a shipping charge of $25 since I had bought it within a year. I have yet to send it to them but I will do that so check it out and see if you could get a new one for free possibly!

reset it by holding the hold button, then put the hold button back, and at the same time press the menu button and the middle button. Hope this works for you.
