Conscience is like a SCALE--- lets say 0 to 10 ---- it is GOD’S COMPASS OF MORALITY TO LEAD MAN TO GOD

On one side of the scale is man’s Subjective Reality, which is coloured by his culture, his family, his friends, his experiences…. One man perceives his truth as distinct from another man. One man may think adultory as a sin, other may justify it saying that this is what all others are doing too. One man may justify some cheating in business, another may not compromise with his values..... man's subjective values are derived from this world

On the other side is the Ultimate Truth.... when ever man bears God as a witness before putting his thoughts into action, the voice of Conscience, or God's voice answers

The Spiritual Reality is that the nature of good and bad is an objective reality that is constant throughout the Cosmos. Like gravity, morality is the fundamental law of existence. Personal beliefs about adultery, or vegetarianism, or insect –tail stomping are right or wrong were irrelevant. If you’re lost in a dense forest, you want a compass to point where north really is, not where you think it is. The problem is that you don’t know where you are, or where your home lies. You need a navigational aid that is completely independent of your ignorance.

Consider the difficulty you face to spell a word correctly. To find that word in a dictionary, you have to know at least its first few letters. Yet you don’t know how it is spelled. If you could spell it you wouldn’t need a dictionary. Yet the dictionary can’t be of help unless you have a fairly good idea of how the word is spelled.
In either case, the worst thing that could happen would be for truth to modify itself in response to our searching for it. This would be like a magnetic compass pointing in whichever direction we thought north was.

Most importantly, existence would be insufferable if the nature of good and bad were based on personal opinion rather than objective reality.

Fortunately, this isn’t true. Whether we believe some action is right or wrong is irrelevant to the cosmos, just as one’s belief or disbelief in the force of gravity has no bearing on how the universal law of gravitation operates…. Even if a person drinks poison unknowingly, he is bound to die

In simple words
Conscience is the voice of God --- the Positive voice which leads man back to God
The other voice is the voice of Temptation ---- the Negative voice which leads us away from God

Conscience, is a safety device. It is that faculty of the mind that tells us whether we are doing right or wrong. It either accuses or excuses us. It judges. It decides as to the moral quality of our thoughts and acts. It demonstrates to us the hidden motives. Besides expressing judgment, conscience does something else: it imparts pleasure or inflicts pain for one’s own good or bad conduct. So conscience is a moral safety device. The best conscience to have is a Bible-trained conscience. Once you begin to study the Scriptures, you are able to determine more fully what is right and what is wrong.

We shall not kill, hurt, steal.
Treat others the way you like to be treated.
Sometimes our bodies tell us by getting a funny feeling in our throat, like we can't swallow, other times, we feel comfortable or uncomfortable after an action. That's how your conscience works.
Example: Your mother told you not to eat any more cookies and you still went ahead and ate them. While you were in the act of grabbing the cookies, you were cautious not to get caught because you know is WRONG. (YOU FEEL GUILTY)(that's the conscience talking to you)
In the other hand, your mom asked you to make the bed before going to school and you made it (yeah, I know it's hard) when your mom sees you and ask if you did it, you respond YES (note that at this time you don't get the same feeling because you know you did the right thing)(YOU DON'T FEEL GUILTY)(That's the conscience talking to you again)
Hopefully I was able to answer your question
=)

Its part of your personality that let you decide what is right or wrong.

What you identify as right or wrong depends on a few things:
1. Your culture. What is right in this culture may be wrong in another.
2. They way you were raised. If your parents had strong morals you would generally be the same, unless you purposefully rebel.
3. Fashion dictates what we perceive is right or wrong. For example, people used to believe homosexuality was wrong.
4. Your peer group. It maybe perfectly acceptable to do something with your friends that other people think is wrong.
5. Your own experiences. Your personal experiences let you dictate what is right or wrong.
6. Religion. If you have faith, it may help you decide what is right or wrong.

This shows that the person you are helps you to identify what is right or wrong. It is your gut instinct.

Hope that helps. x

Conscience tells you the bad from the good. Think about the consequences of an action to help determine if it is right or wrong.

The awareness of a moral or ethical aspect to one's conduct together with the urge to prefer right over wrong: Let your conscience be your guide.

You will know it; you will feel it.

Most people are born with the knowledge of right-and-wrong. Conscience is our spirit advising us. Some people have no conscience -- commonly referred to as psycho/sociopaths. We also learn from family/society, and there are also ethical questions, to which religion or law can help us answer.

Right and wrong are the terms pasted in to our minds by society. How we have been raised will also define your decision-making process. Good and bad are also defined by society. However, man is inherently evil. Man made society, therefore society is also evil.

Consequently we cannot always trust what has been set before us unquestioningly. You must decide based on your own beliefs and faith.

is a moral faculty that leads to feelings of remorse when we do things that go against our inbuilt moral precepts. Such feelings are not intellectually arrived at, though they may cause us to 'examine our conscience' and review those moral precepts, or perhaps resolve to avoid repeating the behaviour
