THE Holocaust (there was only one time it ever took place) was an event that took place from before the start of world war two until quite possibly the end of the war. Millions (and that is no exaduration) of Jews were rounded up and taken to concentration camps throughout Europe under the order of Adolf Hitler, the German dictator. Those inside the camps would endure conditions far below what we would consider horrid, and millions were killed by many means inside the concentration camps, the most common being the gas chambers.

Of those who died, the first were usually children and the elderly. In concentration camps, generally the Jews were made to work under horrible conditions, and seeing as the children and elderly weren't able to do this work, the Germans saw them as useless and had them killed. The Holocaust came to an end when Germany was defeated. Good luck with your studies (I truly hope this helped because to not know about the holocaust worries me greatly).

"Holocaust" is a term to describe Genocide, the mass eradication of a population or a spesific people.

However when people refer to "The Holocaust" the are refering to a spesfic genocide. The third Reichs attempt to wipe out the jewish population durring world war two.

Unfortanately there have been hundreds of Genocides in Human history, they just don't get as much media attention.

First of all you might try paying a little more attention in English class ,it's What was the holocaust. It was the systematic attempt to eliminate Jews and other groups deemed undesirable by the Nazi's
from German held areas, and I guess eventually the world if they're
plans had been realized.

gee could you be writing a history paper, you know it is sad that kids today have no respect or remorse for what happened in the past and want an easy way out of doing the work so they ask someone else to do it. Why don't you go and do it yourself, it will be good for you to learn about the pain and suffering and realize how forturnate you are. People today just figure "hey it isn't my problem" but it is and you should care enough to want to learn for yourself.

holocaust...holo is German for whole and caust is German for fire...so wholefire. holocaust is only a name for genocide. genocide is the systematic killing of an entire people based on a number of things like religion, ethnicity, etc. Hitler led the holocaust because he felt that The Aryan (German people) race was superior and the Jews were inferior. Hitler not only killed the Jews, he killed gypsies, lesbians, gays, old people, children, and handicapped people. Hitler was crazy...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust. Here's the info; you can explain it clearly in your own words!
Also, it's good for you to learn about this terrible chapter in history (so it never happens again).

And Maggie - I think you meant "you're stupid."
