desperate to find my father! he's been missing since 1992!?

how do I find out where my father is and even if he's still alive? I have all of his stats(bday, full name, etc.) and he lived with us until I was 6. At that time supposedly the cops killed him but when my sister lived w/ my gramma she said she heard his voice all the time. I've never been allowed to go to his funeral or gravesite & the rest of the family acts like theres some big secret but wont say a word about it...or even talk to us period. His name is(was?)John aka jack Patrick White, born 7/9/57 in southern california, is very tall and has(had) thick glasses, reddish brown hair, and a rebel personality. Please, if anyone knows him, where I can find him, or how to either find a person who is this lost or how to get my family to say what the heck the big secret is, tell me! I need to find him and theres so many loopholes in the story theyve told me I truly dont believe he's dead. Please help!

You could always file for a death cirtificate from the state, if you have all his info, like his birth date, assumed death date, and ssn. that would at least give you closure.
