Area of a circle is given by (pi)(r^2), where r is radius.
diameter = 2.2 mi
radius = diameter/2 = 2.2 mi/2 = 1.1 mi
Area = (pi)*(1.1mi)^2 = 3.8 mi^2

A = pi * ((d^2)/4)
A = (((2.2)^2)/4)pi
A = (4.84/4)pi
A = 1.21pi
A = about 3.8mi^2

ANS : about 3.8mi^2
