Yes thye can. But see Motor Cycle News website for how to get off the charge - hand-held laser guns have not been tested on motorcycles, so the evidence is not valid in law.

Hand held radar guns use K band radar and MOSFET detectors to gauge the speed of practically any moving object (down to the size of a tennis ball!) from about 6 - 200mph

What happens when you travel over 200mph I dont know, my Citroen AX cant quite make it that far. (Perhaps the policeman can drive BACKWARDS past me at 140mph!)

Course they can! Why do it? If your mentality cannot work this out, then for goodness sake don't speed because the faster you go the less time there is for your reactions to assess the
impending crash and take avoiding action. Don't kill or injure anyone and don't take chances. Stay safe, don't speed.

ASmoothRider is right. So long as you are a visible moving object, he can "capture" your speed, and therefore write you a ticket if you go over the speed limit.

Certainly, if you have a fast bike you can keep moving and that donut eater won't be able to catch up w/ you.

Beter yet, get a radar detector. You can detect them before you are seen by them. B safe.

I would think it would be difficult to get an accurate reading as there is very little metal FLAT surfaces for the radar to bounce off of on a motorcycle.

They can detect your speed on a push bike upwards, its the time it takes for the ray to leave him,hit you and return back to him.
