Since when have we, as humans, respected what is 'natural'? And since when has what's 'natural' been right? In the wonderful world of nature, there are no morals. There are no ethics. There is noneof that. We, as humans, have always fought against nature (not that its a good thing...), so why are we all of a sudden saying that nature doesn't want men to have sex with men and women to have sex with women? And what's so bad about homosexuals or bis? Are they hurting anyone? How are they destroying marriage? I cant imagine waking up in the morning to find a husband who says, "Well, honey, they're letting the queers get married, so I'm deciding to turn gay, kill some people, and leave you and the kids for good. Have a nice life!" Come on people.
Now, think about this: How can you possibly call yourself moral when you deny people a basic right--the right to happiness?
Please think--don't let your pastor, parents, friends, spouse, partner, family, or ANYONE tell you what to think. Think.

Not at all. The normal people ( so called) will continue to get marry the normal way. why would a straight go for a gay marriage even if the law allows it.

AMEN.
If everyone is so scared about the sanctity and value of marriage being destroyed, why not outlaw divorce? I know a myriad of divorced couples. I know gay people, I know religious people, I know religious gay people, and I know that marriage is between the people getting married. Just because 2 people are of different sexes doesn't make them more committed, more loyal, happier in a marriage! Hey, I am a spiritual person, I know what the bible says. Back in 30 A.D., things were a little different. The bible also says that women shouldn't ever wear makeup and they should keep their hair in braids. Back in the day, this made sense for many reasons, as did sex stipulations on marriage. The bible was written by humans. Not God.

It doesn't. What it threatens is the idea that heterosexual marriage is a unique institution. Those who are opposed to it believe that by allowing the institution to be redefined to include a broader scope, it loses some of its meaning.
The analogy that might help those in favor is private property. Your back yard is special because it's just for you and those you invite. If everyone had access to it, then it loses the exclusivity that makes it special.
Personally, I think that's the wrong analogy, because it's really like saying: if everyone else is allowed to have their own back yard, then my back yard stops being special. And that's just another way of saying: I'm better than they are, and they don't deserve what I have. Which is basically how most forms of prejudice survive -- out of fear that somehow we're going to lose if someone else wins.
It's the same problem that most of the world/species has in most areas of thought. By believing the world is a zero-sum game, some people become convinced that if someone else wins, they have to lose. But the world is broader than that, and there is nothing stopping everyone from being able to find happiness -- except fear and intolerance. So, the question becomes, is that a trait inherent to humans, or is there hope for the species?

Hetero marriage is respected under the law because it is a fundamental institution that makes society possible. Marriage laws, at the core, are to protect the weaker sex.
We aren't all of a sudden saying that gay stuff is bad. It has always been an abomination to the Lord. Read Dueteronomy ... adulterers and homosexuals were to be taken out and stoned. Yes, they are hurting a lot of people ... themselves, each other, and causing weakness and confusion in the general population. If our society were really attacked by an enemy who had the ability to destroy us with force, like the Nazis could have done, questions like personal sexual preferences would be irrelevant. Protecting your basic family unit ... that is all that would matter.
The extreme moslems who threaten us now believe we are the great satan because of our tolerance for homosexuals, among other things. They see it as a weakness. I'm not saying God will send all the gays to hell. To the contrary, God loves us all and wants to find a way to save us. Every gay man I've met tells me he thinks he was born that way. Every man I've met who is straight but used to be gay (a convert?) tells me that he thought he was born gay until he came to understand the real reasons for his unhappiness in life.
There is a law of unintended consequences. Our amazing society was not an accident. It takes an amazing amount of effort and dedication to keep it going. We're doing pretty good and can certainly tolerate a lot of deviance, but I wonder where the point is that we are rotting from the core and will become a society that is studied as ancient history by future generations. We are already studying western Europe that way.

It doesn't threaten marriage. 50% of which end in divorce anyway. But if gays are allowed to marry it w ould mean that various religious groups would have to accept it.
There is an easy solution. Make a civil ceromy where any couple (gay/staight, bi) can become legally married, and a religious ceremony, where the religious groups have the right to accept it or not.

When you get married you are performing two acts one religious and the other a contract (marriage license).
A church (religion) has a right to restrict who they will perform a marriage for, it is part of their right of freedom of religion.
The state does not have the right to restrict a contract between adults. If the parties have not been restricted from entering into binding contracts for whatever reasons as applied by the courts, they should be able to obtain a license or enter into any other contract.
Anyway my point is when you marry in the church you still have to marry in the state, and just as one does not have to recognize the divorce proceedings of the other they do not have to recognize the marriage of the other.

If you want humans to be "Natural" or "of nature", then we should be killing off the weaker humans, to improve the breed. Not busting our asses to make sure some cripple or retard survives. It's natural for the strong to destroy the weak. Is that what you want? By the way, we do not have the "right to happiness". Where did you make that up? No one has that... think about the little kid in Iraq with his arms blown off. Still think he has the right to happiness? Stop listening to the popular opinion and decide for yourself. Don't try to decide for everyone else.

What gay people want is not necessarily marriage but a recognition of their rights as a couple. Right now they cannot inherit, make end of life decisions, get health insurance for their partner etc. I don't think the right is afraid of gays marrying, how would it matter to anyone, but just need to make every decision for everybody who does not think like them. After all God talks to them! He tells them that they are the only right people! I really didn't know that God resigned. Nor that He changed his mind about "Judge not lest ye be judged" I think that God weeps--

My Atheist boyfriend says it isn't natural. From a scientific standpoint, it isn't. The sex part, anyway. Marriage is just a legal bond and is a joke these days. Let them marry, they are just going to get divorced like so many in the hetero world. No difference, really.

Amazing points; I love the reasoning.
But people are simply blinded by what morals have been shoved down their throats. "It says in the Bible that homosexuality is sinful!". You know how much other random stuff is sinful according to the bible. It says that if your wife is nagging, it would be best to leave her and live in the desert. So any woman who asks her husband to do something should be abandoned? People need to think for themselves. God did not write the bible. And I would think he wouldn't care. Don't we teach kids God loves everyone?
