I was driving on the freeway and a big rock hit my windshield. It caused a chip about the size of a penny. You can't feel it from outside or inside the windshield, should I do anything about it?

If I get it sealed or whatever, am I still able to see the chip?

I called a windshield shop about a chip on mine and they wanted 45 dollars to repair each chip. I asked them how much would a new windshield cost and they said 95 dollars. So I didnt repair mine, I just figured if it got worse I would replace the glass. Call a glass shop and get the exact figures for you vehicle, then decide. Repairing a chip will keep it from spreading across the entire windshield.

Most insurance companys will pay for a windshield repair 100 percent (waive your deductible). If you call them, they will tell you for sure. As somebody else stated, it is cheaper for them to pay for repair than to replace glass later.
Repairing the chip will help to prevent the crack from spreading. But this is not always the case. It may still spread. But 99 times out of a hundred, it stops the chip from spreading.
As far as if you will still see the chip, it depends on how big it is, etc.....contrary to what some people think, you may still be able to see the chip or some remains of it. It may be completely transparent after repair but the larger the chip, the larger the chance you may still see part of it.
The main idea is to stop it from spreading so that you have to replace your windshield so if your insurance pays 100 percent, you have nothing to lose.

Get it repaired to prevent it from turning into a crack that will get you a ticket AND the expense of a new windshield. For about $40-$45 it can be sealed. Don;t wait too long, as it's harder to repair if a lot of dirt and other crud gets into it.

Here is what i done on my car. i called my insurance company and told them a rock hit my windshield. they gave me a claim number and they sent or recomeneded a windshield repair guy to my home. he fixed the window at no charge. the insurance company told me that it is cheaper for themn to repair the glass for free than it was for them to replace the windshield. i have told this to many people, and they all have had their windshields repaired for free!!
