I just did a search and cannot believe the number of people who have no idea the damage that CPS can do to families. If you people have never been in that situation why would you possibly tell them anything??? This is their children and if you believe that CPS follows any kind of laws then you are highly mistaken. Think about the damage you are doing to these people and look into the crisis that is on going with this agency and help these people if you are going to answer them!!

I guess I should have known better than to ask this. Opinions about CPS can be given anywhere, someone who may be at risk of losing their children can't be helped with opinions. And there are laws in place but it certainly doesn't mean they work. CPS is a needed entity however when they get financial incentives to adopt out children and take children from their families what's to stop them? And no one is exempt... do a search on Jim and Denise Wade and tell me what horrible parents they were. You can find plenty more....

I am not sure what questions you are reffering to, but as an educator, I am required to report. Yes, the system is a bit messed up. I have seen children taken away for little things, and nothing done in cases of major abuse. CPS is required to look into anything that is reported. If a family has identified problems on their own, I encourage them to get help. Go to counseling, whatever they need to do to get out of trouble. It is the parent's responsiblity to take care and protect our children. If they can not, someone needs to protect the child. Unfortunately, CPS is overwhelmed and needs an overhaul.

People post questions to get answers. Everyones opinions are different. You can't tell people off for having an opinion. Sometimes someones answer may strike a cord with some people and they get a lot of good advice from it..
some may have had a good experience with the CPS, and others have not.
Every case involving the CPS is different. We are not there at that time in that situation so it is impossible to judge what is right and what is wrong.
There has been a lot of media attention recently about the CPS wrongly accusing parents and taking away children based on nothing but heresay, but the media fail to point out the good side of it, which makes it even harder to comment if you are only hearing the bad side.
We never hear of the good side where the CPS have been involved and have saved many children from hurt and abuse.

The CPS have to abide by some kind of law. Whether that law is right or wrong, it does need investigating so that innocent people are not left suffering.

Yes, cps is in crisis, Most agencies are in crisis these days due to a lack of funding. However, cps do not generally take children away from parents without reason. The witch hunts they have gone on recently are sensationalized yet none of the good things they do are even published. And like any other agency, they have hired people who should never be allowed to interact with children, and are ready to believe any lie, often right out of university. The good they do far outweighs the harm that isdone. And everything possible is done to get these children back home to loving parents.

I don't think you need to have personally had your children removed from your care by CPS in order to have an opinion on their services.

Why shouldn't people who've never had their children taken by CPS answer questions? They're smart enough to not have had their children taken from them. CPS doesn't do it for no reason.

Are you suggesting not calling CPS on people? You're crazy! If anyone ever suspects abuse on a child call Child Protective Services (C.P.S.) immediately. Obviously if they've been called on you, you have questionable parenting skills. I'm sure they have their bueracratic problems but as a whole they do a great service to this country. Don't hate because your parenting skills are whack.
