I have an 1986 Ford F150 6 Cycl. 1 barrel carb and if I drive it hard I lose fuel press/ volume to the carb. Is this a vaper lock problem or something else?

It is something else. Vapor lock is when the fuel in the line turns to vapor due to heat off of the engine. It is caused by low fuel pressure or volume or extreme engine temp. You have either, a bad fuel pump, filter, restriction in the line or even a restricted pickup in the tank. On an older truck you should follow the line back to the fuel tank to see if someone has added a non oem fuel filter.

check/change your fuel filters might look clean but may be clogged hard to tell sometimes if dirty/clogged. Sounds like fuel stavation or
also check your fuel pump pressure
