Is there anyone out there that would consider themselves an Apple expert... I need your help!?

I just recently purchased a MacBook and I've never used an Apple before... I'm trying to figure out a way to get into chatrooms via Messenger and I feel like a dumbass because I can't seem to figure it out. If there is anyone out there with a soloution I'd really appreciate it!

I'm assuming you're talking about Yahoo Messenger? Yahoo hasn't updated the Mac version of Messenger in about 2 and a half years, and does not support chatrooms or voice or IMvironments. Its just something that us Mac users have to deal with. You can try third party messengers like adium (http://www.adiumx.com/) and there are others that support various features, but they all have their downfalls.
