My broccolli in my garden is sprouting yellow flowers, did I wait to long to pick them, or is this the beginning process?

According to Neil Sperry's Complete Guide to Texas Gardening," Harvest broccoli as buds reach full size, but BEFORE yellow florets open."

home grown will fool you, the clusters are smaller, the top plant will harvest first, but if you just cut the top, the plant will continue to produce small florettes through the fall. Check daily and eat flowering clusters before the yellow blossoms open.

If it looks good to eat...pick it...if it's got yellow flowers on it...it's already going to seed...too long!
