Sure. I've had doctors that came from both Asian and Mid-Eastern countries (ie India, Phillipines, Israel). I think most Americans do not care if a doctor is foreign (there are some racists though) as long as they are qualified and it probably helps insure acceptance by going to/graduating from a university that most Americans have heard of (then again I don't think I've ever looked where any of my physicians went to school because we trust the hospital and insurance companies have done a thorough background check). It almost doesn't even matter if a foreign physician cannot write in English very well because most American doctors have terrible hand-writing too. Seriously, the only major obstacle I have experienced with a foreign doctor was a language barrier; I had one physician I believe was an excellent doctor but I had a difficult time understanding him and his instructions so I did, in fact, switch to an American doctor so I could understand him. As long as your "American" English is strong, I really don't think that most people would worry where you originally came from. In addition, if you gain a reputation from your peers and patients as a good doctor that also matters more to Americans than your birthplace.

Of course we do, most Americans judge a physician by there reputation in the community, there nationality is completely unimportant. One of the most important things, that Americans use to judge there physician, is how well they communicate with there patients. There physicians nationality, is probably the least important thing, to most Americans. Some of the highest rated physicians in America are from other countries, many of those countries, are developing countries.

If a doctor got through an American med school, I respect the hell out of them, regardless of nationality.
